    This presentation will make you question your own long-held, deep-rooted assumptions about what constitutes competence or success in the workplace – challenging norms that may perpetuate inequality!   Championing unconscious bias awareness involves actively seeking out diverse perspectives and experiences while making decisions allowing your organization to thrive in the face of challenges!

    Speaker BIo:  Kimberly Brister is Vice President and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at WellSpan Health, where she leads the organizational strategy to build a diverse workforce and advance an inclusive workplace. With over 30 years of experience in organizational development and cultural transformation, her expertise lies in creating inclusive environments and fostering equitable opportunities for all individuals. Kim has successfully implemented innovative strategies to address biases, promote diversity, and strengthen relationships within diverse teams. Committed to driving systemic change, Kim has a proven track record of influencing policy, shaping inclusive workplace cultures, and spearheading initiatives that champion justice and equality. Her collaborative approach and empathetic leadership style position her as a sought-after executive advisor and make her an invaluable asset in driving positive, sustainable change in organizations.

    Kim earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix and holds a Diversity & Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University. She co-chairs the Leadership Institute’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forum and extends her servant leadership mantra into the York Community where she is active on multiple community boards. Kim has been recognized for her professional and personal commitment to community empowerment, earning a 2023 Pennsylvania Impact Award from City and State Pennsylvania, receiving Central Penn Business Journal’s Women of Influence 2021 Award, and being recognized twice on the Business Journal’s Power 30 for healthcare list. Kim has also been honored with the Diversity Impact Award, one of the annual Spirit of YoCo Awards from the York County Economic Alliance, and for two consecutive years she has also been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s most influential Black leaders on City and State’s Power of Diversity: Black 100 list.

    Kim is actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the York College Community Opportunity Scholarship Program (YCCOSP) of York College of Pennsylvania; the United Way Board of Directors and Leadership Giving Circle Committee Chair; the YWCA of York County Board of Directors; and the York County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors. She is also a member of the York County Community Foundation’s Racial Equity Committee and the Confronting Racism Coalition.
